What does the orange square image next to the product category mean?
40
The orange square signifies an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed, which is used to notify subscribers to the feed that there is new content on a website.
RSS technology can be used for displaying news, weather, and other information that changes frequently. Many popular websites such as newspapers, technology sites, news sites, sports sites, and broadcasters use RSS technology.
RSS technology allows website visitors to be informed when a website changes. If you want to be kept up to date with the latest news, you can subscribe to an RSS news feed.
Handy Healthcare has a policy of continuous improvement and strives to make the latest products available to our customers. As a result of this, we have implemented RSS technology to allow our customers to be informed when we have added new products to our online disability aids catalogue.
For more information about RSS, please see the section below.
How do I subscribe to an RSS feed?
41
If you want to be kept up to date with new additions to our range of mobility products and therapy supplies, you can subscribe to an RSS feed wherever you see the orange RSS square. You can find out more information by clicking on any orange RSS square.
For Example
To be informed when the Orthopaedic Aids category changes, navigate to the Orthopaedic Aids category, click on the orange RSS icon, and then click on the Subscribe to this feed link.
To be notified when any category in the Mobility Aids section is updated, click on the Mobility menu, click on the orange RSS icon, and then click on the Subscribe to this feed link.
When you click on the orange RSS icon, you are able to see all the products in that category in alphabetical order. Clicking on a product title link or the green arrow will display the product details.
Once the category has been updated, you will be informed, and will be able to view the feeds that you have subscribed to.
For Example
If you are a healthcare professional and want to know when the Specialist category has been updated, you can subscribe to the RSS feed.
If you work in a residential or nursing home, you might want to keep up to date with Elderly Care Activities and by subscribing to the relevant feed, you can.
Only product categories can be subscribed to, rather than individual healthcare products.
Is there a charge for subscribing to the RSS feed?
42
There is no charge for using an RSS feed to keep informed of the latest products to be added to our online catalogue.
How do I read an RSS feed?
43
Some browsers, such as Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla and Safari, feature built in support for viewing RSS feeds. Using a browser based news reader means that your feeds can be viewed from any computer with a browser that supports RSS feeds.
Other browsers including Internet Explorer 6 do not support RSS and require RSS aggregator or news reader software. Aggregators or news readers download the feed to your computer, rather like an email.
There are many different news readers available and new ones are being produced all the time. Using a search engine to look for "RSS aggregator" or "RSS newsreader" will provide more information about viewing RSS feeds.
How do I add www.handyhealthcare.co.uk to my Favourites?
44
In order to add www.handyhealthcare.co.uk to your Favourites list, you can click on the "Bookmark" link in the top right hand corner of the page.
Can I add a product or page to my Favourites?
45
If you wish to save a page or product for viewing later on you can do.
If you are using Internet Explorer, choose Favourites and Add to Favourites.
If you are using Mozilla, click on Bookmarks, and Bookmark This Page.
If you are using Safari on a Mac, Click on the + sign to the left of the address bar, and you can add the websites to your favourites.
How do I know which category I am looking at?
46
You can find out exactly where you are by viewing the navigational text underneath the product menus.
For Example
The category you are viewing is the last text in blue before the actual product name.
If your navigational text says Home > Mobility Aids > Household, Kitchen Aids> Bread Board the category you are in is Kitchen Aids.
How do I return to a product category?
47
Simply click on the link in blue to the left of the Product name underneath the product menus, and then you will return to the product category.
For Example
If you navigation text says Home > Mobility Aids > Homecare > Rise and Recline Chairs > La Z Boy Triumph, clicking on Rise and Recline Chairs will take you back to the list of rise and recline chairs.
You can also use the categories at the bottom of each page to find your way around the website.
Why have products disappeared from my basket?
48
For your security and safety, products saved in the basket will be lost when you close the browser window, or turn off the computer.
Can I save a product and come back to it later?
49
If you are registered with the site and logged in then you can save your shopping basket at any time whilst browsing the site, and the products in your basket will be saved in the "My account" section for you to access any time you wish.
Alternatively simply add the individual page to your favourites, and you can access it at any time via your browser.
How do I return to the homepage?
50
To return to the homepage, simply click on the Handy Healthcare logo in the top left hand corner of any page, or click on the Home link at the beginning of the navigation text underneath the product menus.
Why do I get a message saying that the webpage has expired when I press the Back button on my browser?
51
When you press the Back button after using the search facility, the webpage needs to be reloaded in order to display your search results. Please refresh, or reload the page to return to your search results.
This can be done by refreshing the page by pressing the Refresh button, or F5 in Internet Explorer, clicking the Reload button or pressing ctrl+R, in Mozilla or Apple and R or clicking on the Reload Page icon if using Safari on a Mac. For other browsers, please see the browser documentation. This does not happen if you clicked on a product category rather than by searching for a product.
Why does the product name appear when I hover over an image?
52
Some visually impaired people use screen reader software which reads out the contents of the web page. Screen reader software is only able to read text and can't recognise images, so the image description is used instead.
Some users have their browser set up so that it doesn't display images. This may be to save time when loading pages because they have a slow internet connection, or a slow computer.
The image description is also used in place of the image, if, for some reason, the image cannot be displayed.
Why does the product name or more information appear when I hover over a link?
53
Hovering over a link will provide information about what the link does. In order to keep the website easy to use, this information is hidden except when the link is hovered over.
For Example
When you are logged in, and hover over the My Account link, you can see the options available in the My Account section, such as view previous orders and add or remove an address.
Hovering over the Print Product Details will provide the product name so that you can make sure that you print out the product details you are interested in.
What happens if I forget my password?
54
If you forget your password, navigate to the "Login" page, click on "Forgotten your password?", and enter the email address you signed up with. You will then be emailed a new password.
Once you have received your new password we advise that you visit the "My account" section to change the new password to something more memorable.
Why do I need to copy characters from an image into a text box?
91
While filling in forms on our site you may well be asked to copy a "Verification Code" from an image into a text box in order to continue. In basic terms, this is so that we can be 100% sure that it is a human being submitting the request to us, and not an automatic program or "robot".
These robots are primarily responsible for filling in forms on a website, but instead of requesting real help they simply fill the comments or question box with SPAM and we are then inundated with electronic junk-mail, something we all want to do with out!
