Help Section: Shopping and Finding Products

How do I find what I am looking for?

Hover over the category menus such as Mobility or Specialist, at the top of each page, and you will be able to see all the product types listed in that section. Once you have found the required category, simply click it and you can view your chosen products.

For Example
  • In order to see all items in the Bathing category, click on the Bathing menu, and all the bathing aids will be shown.
  • If you want to see all of the items in the Bathing Hoists category, click on Bathing, and then Bathing Hoists.
  • If you are looking for a rise and recline chair, click on Homecare and then chose Rise and Recline Chairs. You will then be able to choose from our range of rise and recline chairs.
Alternatively, if you know the type of product you are looking for, you can use the search box to find it. The search results will show products from all relevant categories.

For Example
  • Searching for chair will show all products containing the word chair in the product title from all categories. Disability aids such as wheelchair accessories, shower chairs and chair pads will be displayed as well as chairs.
If you know the product number of the item you are looking for, perhaps you made a note of it, or purchased the item previously then you can type that in the search box, and the item will be displayed.

For Example
  • If you have previously purchased an item and now want to purchase another one, you can type the product code (details available from the View My Orders section, in My Account once you are logged in) or your receipt, in the search box and you can add the item to your basket and proceed to the checkout.
If there are several variations of the same item, typing in one of the product codes will bring up the product description containing all the products.

If you have previously purchased a disability aid (you can view your previous orders in the View My Orders section, in My Account, once you have logged in) and now wish to purchase the same product in a different size or colour, you can type in the original product code in and see all the available configurations for that product.

For Example
  • Typing in the product code A508LL will bring up all the Ankle Foot Orthosis items, in all sizes and both left and right fittings.
  • Typing in the product code AA8118AL will bring up all the Coloured Comfy Grip walking sticks, in all colours and both left and right hand fittings.
If you are at the bottom of a page of search results or a product description, and now want to view a different type of mobility aid, instead of scrolling up the page, you can click on the category name at bottom of the page.

For Example
  • If you are at the bottom of the page of search results for Orthopaedic Aids, or viewing a product description, you can click on Bathing Aids at the bottom of the page to view all Bathing Aids.

Why am I getting unexpected search results?

The search facility looks for all instances of your chosen word or phrase in the product name, and displays the results accordingly.

For Example
  • Searching for hair will bring up all products with hair in the title, such as a hair washing tray, as well as all product names containing hair, like wheelchair cushion, chair riser, and shower chair.
  • Searching for mode will bring up all products containing mode in the title, and will find commodes and models, as they both feature the word mode.
  • Searching for hand will display all products which include hand in the product title, such as handbook, handle, handled and handy.
Searching for a colour or a size is likely to produce unexpected results as the sizing and colour information, where applicable, is provided in the More Info section on each product page rather than in the product title.

For Example
  • A search for small will display all products with small in the title, rather than all products which are available in a small size.
  • Searching for white will display whiteboards, and white paper rather than all products that are available in white.

How do I view my chosen product?

Once you have your search results, you can click on the image of the product, on the product name, or View Product link to find out more information about the product.

From the product description page, you can see a larger image of the product by clicking on the image or the View Larger Image link.

Clicking on the Print Details link will open a new page formatted especially for printing (so that menus and information on the page that you don't information for will not be printed).

Can I change the order in which products are displayed?

If you have clicked on the menu heading, or chosen a category under the menu heading to display the items you are interested in, you change the order in which products are displayed for your convenience. You can choose from ascending or descending alphabetical order, and by sub-category, as well as choosing the number of items to show per page.

If the category chosen includes a lot of items, there may be several pages of mobility products. In order to change the view so that more products are displayed on the page, you can change the View option to display your chosen amount of products per page.

You can view the products page by page, using the left and right arrows to move forwards and backwards, and navigate to the last page of results by clicking on the Last button where displayed.

For Example
  • To see all the pressure relieving aids on one page, you would click on Comfort, and then choose Pressure Relief Aids. From the list of results, you would then change the View option to All to display all items on one page. You are also able to change to a different sub-category using the Change To box.
  • If you wanted to view all the items in Cutlery, with 15 products per page, you would click on Household, then choose Cutlery, and change the View to 15.

Why is the price displayed for some products and not for others in my search results?

Some disability products are available in different colours, different sizes, different configurations, and left or right fittings, will have different product codes and may also have different prices. Other products which do not have any options will display the price.

For Example
  • A key turner that has no alternative colours or sizes will display the price.
  • A wrist brace which is available in different sizes and colours and for the left or right wrist, will not display the price, as the product code will be different for each item, and the price may vary.
  • A CPM machine will have the prices for accessories and spares listed alongside the machine itself.
  • Exercise balls that are available in different sizes and colours will have the price for each product listed individually.

How can I find out more details about a product?

Some mobility aids have a More Info button which provides additional information. This information may include details of the size, dimensions, colour, weight, fitting, application, and delivery and carriage costs.

For Example
  • A wrist splint may have the size, whether it is suitable for a child or an adult, the colour, the dimensions, and whether it is for left or right hand use listed in the More Info section. This means that for some healthcare products, there could be 10 or more variations.
  • An exercise mat may be available in several sizes, thicknesses and colours. Clicking on "More" will provide the information you need so that you can choose the right option for your needs.
Some mobility products are portable, or designed to be moved or carried, and may have the product weight listed.

For Example
  • Some walking frame, reachers and bed rail descriptions will show the product weight, to help you find the right one for your needs.
Depending on the product, the "More" section will also display the manufacturer's maximum recommended user weight limit for the product.

For Example
  • Step stools, chairs, changing tables, hoists and many other mobility products will display the manufacturer's maximum recommended user weight limit.
If the item you are viewing has a lower maximum recommended weight limit than you require, there may be different versions of the same product listed which have a higher maximum user weight limit. Alternatively, please see our Bariatric section for heavy duty and wider mobility aids.

In some cases, the More Info section contains manufacturer's advice regarding the suitability of the product for certain applications.

For Example
  • The manufacturer may recommend that medical advice is taken before purchasing, the product is installed by a qualified tradesperson or that the product needs regular calibration or maintenance.
Availability and additional delivery information is also in the "More" section, where applicable.

For Example
  • Some large and specialist mobility aids are special order only and may take longer than our standard delivery time of 3-5 working days to arrive.
  • Bulky items may have carriage charged at the cost price.
If the information you require isn't listed, please contact us on 0844 357 0382 or use the Request More Information link, with details, and we will respond to your query as soon as possible.

How can I find out what spares and accessories are available for a particular product?

Depending on the item, there maybe other items listed in the main description, and in the "More Info" section. Some or all of these may be accessories or spares for the main product.

For Example
  • The Thera Aktiv machine is listed with different accessories such as arm rests and leg rests.
  • Semmes Weinstein Monofilaments are listed with several accessories such as replacement monofilaments and evaluation pads.
  • A stopwatch or a TENS machine may have replacement batteries listed.
If there are no accessories listed for a specific product, if applicable there may be accessories listed in the product category.

For Example
  • An inflator for inflating therapy balls is listed separately to the therapy balls in the Exercise Equipment category of Physical Assessment.

Why does exactly the same product have a different product code?

Each individual item has its own product code. It may seem as though there is no difference between products, especially those products with lots of variations such as splints and incontinence products. Each product will relate to a specific combination of size, colour, and weight.

For Example
  • Bed accessories may be available for single, double and king size beds.
  • Handling belts are available for children, and in small, medium and large adult sizes.
  • Elbow and heel protectors are available in different lengths.
  • Splints may be available in different colours, different sizes, and for left or right hand, and left and right leg use.
  • Walking sticks are available in different lengths and designs.
  • Bath boards are available in different lengths.
Some electrical products including heat guns and heat pans are available with a UK mains plug, or an EU mains plug and the voltage may also be different. If you require any further information, please contact us on 0844 357 0382.

What are related products and why are they displayed?

Related products are disability aids similar to those you are viewing, which may be an accessory for the product you are viewing, complement the product you are viewing, or an alternative.

For Example
  • If you are viewing a walking stick, you might see a different type of walking stick, a walking stick bag and a walking stick holder.
  • If you are looking at a hoist, you may see slings, and glide sheets listed as related products.
  • If you are viewing a range of cutlery, related products may be a different range of cutlery, bibs, cups, or plates.

Can I print out the product details?

If you want to print out details of a mobility product, simply click on the Print Product Details link under Product Options. All of our individual product pages have been designed so that they print as well as they possibly can. What this means is that when you print out a product from our site the menus and graphics that you see on every single page will not be printed, just the information pertinent to that product (picture, prices, options, etc.). We firmly believe that this will help you save paper and ink when printing products with us, a nice little benefit to us all!

Can I request more information about a healthcare product?

If you have a specific requirement or query that is not answered by the product description, we can provide you with more details. Use the Request More Information link under Product Options. Or, if you prefer, you can telephone us on 0844 357 0382 to di

Can I tell somebody else about a disability product I've found?

If you find a disability aid you want to share with a relative, friend or colleague, you can. Just click on the Tell a Friend about this Product link under Product Options, and this will bring up a brief form to fill in and will send an email a link so that they can view the product for themselves.

How can I see what special offers are currently available?

Click on "Special Offers" in the Options Section on the left hand side of the page to view our current mobility product special offers. These products change regularly so check this section often to see if there is a bargain for you.

Why does the Special Offer product under the Options section change when I go to a different page?

The Special Offer product rotates through all the products in the Special Offers section so that you can see the products currently on offer.

The Special Offer product is not necessarily related to the products you are viewing.

For Example
  • You might be viewing the Bathing aids category, and see a Household, or Mobility item displayed as a Special Offer.

Why are some mobility products in the Clearance section?

Our Clearance section features the last stocks of some of our popular products and represents fantastic for money and great savings on the manufacturer's recommended retail price. We do not have a lot of these products, so our advice would be to place your order whilst stocks last.

What is the Quickcode?

The Quickcode is the product code for an item. Each healthcare product listed in our online catalogue has a unique product code.

For mobility aids that are available in different sizes or colours, there will be a separate product code for each colour and size combination. The size and colour combination will be described in the More Info section of the product.

For Example
  • Grab rails that are available in 3 lengths will have 3 different product codes, one for each size.
  • Exercise bands that are available in different resistances will have different product codes for each level of resistance.

What does UoM mean?

UoM stands for Unit of Measurement. The majority of our disability aids are sold as an individual item. The price for a chair is per chair. The price for crutches is per pair, unless stated. Some products are available in bulk, such as some splinting materials, or paints. The bulk price will usually provide a substantial cost saving over buying the same items individually.

What does RRP stand for?

RRP stands for Recommended Retail Price. This is the price that the manufacturer suggests the product should sell for.

Why is your price lower than the manufacturer's recommended price?

As leaders in the mobility aids and healthcare supply industry we are painfully aware of just how expensive some shops / websites sell their products for, making them a very handsome profit in the process. At Handy Healthcare we are committed to selling our products at the lowest prices we possibly can, in an effort to reduce the burden on you, the end user. If you see a product that we sell advertised on another UK business's website please let us know, and we will be happy to offer the same product to you at the lower price.
